De Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) is opgericht in 1995 ter ondersteuning van de ontwikkelingen binnen de moleculaire diagnostiek.

The Association for Molecular Pathology is a not-for-profit scientific society that advances the clinical practice, science, and excellence of molecular and genomic laboratory medicine through education, innovation, and advocacy to enable highest quality health care.
De vereniging heeft meer dan 2300 leden en vergadert elk jaar (meestal in november) in de USA. De laatste jaren nemen aan de AMP-meetings meer dan 3500 participanten deel. In de annual meetings is er ook een grote business meeting.
De AMP organiseert voor de 2e keer een AMP Europe meeting (eerste in 2016 in Berlijn) van 30 april t/m 2 mei 2018, Rotterdam, De Doelen.
